Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the PRICECHANT website, web application, and Chrome extension (collectively, the “Services”). It explains the information handled by the Services, why it is handled, how it is shared, and the choices available to users.
The Chrome extension and the PRICECHANT website do not use the same tracking technologies. Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and website remarketing technologies are used on the PRICECHANT website and are not operated inside the Chrome extension.
Information We Collect and Process
Account and authentication information
PRICECHANT collects the email address associated with a user account and processes authentication and session information needed to sign users in and maintain access to the Services.
The Chrome extension uses chrome.storage.local to store an authentication session token locally so the user can remain signed in across browser sessions.
Information processed through the Chrome extension
When a user uses PRICECHANT features such as comp capture, listing analysis, comp suggestions, or related functionality, the Chrome extension may access, collect, transmit, and store information necessary to perform those features, including:
- The URL and active-tab information for the page being analyzed.
- Website and listing content, including listing title, page text, price, mileage, options, and similar listing details.
- Screenshots captured as part of a user-initiated comp capture or evaluation workflow.
- Comp, search, and analysis information generated or saved through PRICECHANT.
- Authentication or session-related identifiers associated with the user account.
The extension may also temporarily inspect information such as scroll position to complete viewport capture and other user-facing functions.
Website analytics, cookies, and similar technologies
On the PRICECHANT website, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity may collect analytics and usage information through cookies or similar technologies.
Depending on the service and browser settings, this may include device and browser information, IP address or approximate location, pages viewed, referrals, interactions, session information, and cookie or device identifiers.
This information is used to understand website usage, diagnose issues, and improve the website and Services.
PRICECHANT also uses remarketing technologies on the website. Website cookies or related identifiers may be used by Google services to support remarketing or advertising to prior website visitors.
Payment and subscription information
Payments are processed by Stripe.
Stripe collects payment card information directly. PRICECHANT does not store full card numbers, CVVs, or the last four digits of payment cards.
PRICECHANT stores the Stripe customer ID associated with the PRICECHANT account, along with subscription status and payment status, so that subscriptions and customer accounts can be coordinated.
How We Use Information
PRICECHANT uses information described above to:
- Create, authenticate, and maintain user accounts.
- Keep users signed in and manage account sessions.
- Analyze listings and provide comp capture, comparable results, suggestions, and related PRICECHANT functionality.
- Capture and process screenshots when a user initiates a feature requiring a screenshot.
- Save and retrieve comp, search, and analysis information for the user.
- Operate, maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Services.
- Manage subscriptions, payment status, and billing relationships through Stripe.
- Measure and improve website performance and usability using Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity.
- Conduct website-only remarketing as described in this Privacy Policy.
Chrome Extension Permissions
The PRICECHANT Chrome extension requests only permissions used to provide its current user-facing features.
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| storage | Used to securely store and retrieve the user’s authentication session token locally using chrome.storage.local so the user stays logged into PRICECHANT across browser sessions. |
| activeTab | Used to access the current tab when the user initiates a comp capture, allowing the extension to read the page URL, inspect scroll positions, and capture screenshots without requiring persistent background access to page content. |
| tabs | Used to query active-tab details, detect tab changes to refresh comp suggestions, capture the visible tab when required by a user-facing feature, and open PRICECHANT web-app pages or lead links in new tabs. |
| scripting | Used to execute lightweight extraction scripts on the target page to obtain listing details such as title, text, price, mileage, options, and similar listing details, and to adjust scroll position when necessary for viewport capture. |
| sidePanel | Used to configure the PRICECHANT interface as a persistent Chrome Side Panel so users can evaluate comps alongside the active browsing tab. |
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
PRICECHANT’s use and transfer of information received from Chrome extension permissions and APIs is limited to providing, maintaining, securing, and improving the extension’s disclosed user-facing functionality.
Chrome extension user data is not used or transferred for personalized, interest-based, or retargeted advertising.
PRICECHANT limits human access to Chrome extension user data to circumstances permitted for operating and protecting the Services, such as user-requested support, security or abuse investigation, compliance with applicable law, or internal operations involving aggregated or anonymized information.
Data Storage and Retention
PRICECHANT stores application and account data in databases hosted with DigitalOcean.
PRICECHANT retains stored user account and application data until the user deletes the account or requests deletion.
After account deletion, PRICECHANT will remove the user data under its control as part of the deletion process.
Third-party providers such as Stripe, Google, Microsoft, and DigitalOcean may maintain information according to their own retention requirements and privacy practices. For example, payment information handled directly by Stripe is subject to Stripe’s own data-retention obligations and policies.
Security
PRICECHANT uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect user information and to limit unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure.
User data transmitted between the PRICECHANT Chrome extension and PRICECHANT systems is intended to be transmitted through secure connections. PRICECHANT relies on DigitalOcean infrastructure to host stored application data.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Users should also protect their account credentials and promptly report suspected unauthorized access.
User Choices and Data Deletion
Users may delete their PRICECHANT account or request deletion of stored user data by contacting PRICECHANT at pricechant@gmail.com.
PRICECHANT will remove user data under its control in connection with the deletion request, subject to any information that a third-party provider is independently required to retain under its own legal or contractual obligations.
Browser settings may also allow users to control or block website cookies and similar technologies. Disabling cookies may affect certain website functionality.
Website analytics and remarketing choices are separate from Chrome extension functionality.
Email Communications
PRICECHANT uses email for account administration, service notices, billing and subscription communications, customer support, security notices, and similar operational communications.
PRICECHANT does not use user email addresses to send promotional marketing emails.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
PRICECHANT may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Services, technology, service providers, legal requirements, or privacy practices.
When the Privacy Policy is updated, the effective date at the top of this document will be revised. Material changes may also be communicated through the Services when appropriate.
